Today we should be visiting Belize, however we have been notified by the Captain that we will have to miss out on Belize due to unsafe conditions caused by the winds and swells at sea.
Day 270 – November 27th, 2014.
Today we were due to visit Belize. However the weather that we were experiencing yesterday has gotten worse and as Belize is a tender port, the Captain had no choice but to cancel our visit here. It is a shame but there is no point in being annoyed about it, the weather is something we can’t control (yet) and it gives us more of a reason to return.
“Cancellation of our stop in Belize with choppy seas and strong winds”
He must keep the safety of passengers and crew in mind and using the tenders in the choppy seas would not be safe. Where ever you looked it was the same bleak view.
The rains and winds have been strong all day with 4-5 meter swells and the ship is continuing its course cruising slowly to Mahogany bay at about 12 knots as we have plenty of time to get there. The Splendor is handling the rough seas really very well, which is great as it could be rocking a lot more, the sea-sick bags are out.
A good day to read and Moni was lucky to catch the Library open, but not for long!! With the officer locking up the book cupboards, don’t quite get it but hey.
Today is Thanks Giving day for those Americans, and all we keep hearing is ‘happy thanksgiving’…
We had lunch in the main dining room for a change, it was not very busy which might be a reflection of the motion of the ocean.
The dinner menu followed the theme of the day with turkey and pumpkin pie on the menu. Strange that they have turkey now and not even a month away they will have it again at Christmas.
The shows have been cancelled for tonight, and the crew made a new action packed schedule for those wanting to do all the activities to keep busy. We have hardly done any of the fun events that are in the daily program as it really doesn’t interest us to be involved. Far too many ****
A few things we have noticed on these two Carnival Caribbean cruises is the clientele are somewhat less cruise like and more bogan like to use the Australian term.
“Carnival Fun Ships”
This second week being Thanks giving has 900 kids aboard and they are everywhere. Today even more noticeable as it is raining and nothing happening on the outer decks. Also a lot of large family groups are traveling together which are very noticeable with their all the same t-shirts.
Carnival’s slogan is “fun ships” and they certainly try to live up to that, getting lots of people to participate in the dances even when it is choppy and wet.
A lot of very FAT people on board as well, very sad state to see them eating and drinking soft drinks etc like there is no tomorrow. When I say fat I mean extreme, not just a bulge here or there (not sure if they have an illness, but that would be a lot of ill people).
Also why do many people not use their knife at dinner? What is the go with them trying to cut things with the fork, it really pisses me off. lazy people, it’s not that they have a bad other hand they are just sloppy lazy bastards. I’m not afraid to say it either, why are people so dam lazy and have no manners?
Oh well, where’s my stiff drink?
Check out our towel animal this evening.
