Eating Cheaply in Envigado, Medellin at Pipelon Restaurant

We thought that we would walk to GozArte after lunch today and check it out.

Day 175 – August 24th, 2014.

After waking up on this Sunday morning, not to the sound of soothing music or the sound of church bells, but rather the beat of loud dance music coming form the main street in front of our place.

The road had been closed to traffic and they had a live on the street aerobics fitness session which went on for nearly two hours.

I wouldn’t have minded so much if we had had a good nights sleep, but the apartment below were up all night or so it seemed.

The building we are in is above other apartments and the whole building is not very sound proof meaning we can here everything, from the phone ringing to the gas stove clicking on preparing breakfast at 4.30am to the general chatter, oh well I guess we will have to get used to it somehow.

Anyway, after breakfast and showers we decided to head out to find a place that Moni had read about, we got the address from Facebook and the route from Google and took screen shots so we could follow.

We also read about a place for lunch that is really cheap so we walked there first.

Lunch was similar to yesterday and very tasty again, this time even cheaper. The menu del dia (menu of the day) comes with a soup followed by a plate of rice, salad, cooked egg (this time boiled) a kind of bun called Arepa, and some meat, you also get a juice all for 7000 pesos or $3.80 AUD.

Now that is a cheap meal in Envigado, Medellin, it’s really good value and you will be full after.

Our walk took us from one street to the next supposedly getting us closer to our destination. It was quite hot and Medellin has a few hills, so we walked up some and down some trying to find this place. We stopped and had a lemonade and then continued up another hill, according to our instructions it should be very close.

We ask a taxi driver by showing him the address and him and his colleagues try and explain that it’s wrong, we are a long way from where we want to be. We were where the direction had said, but it was the wrong place for our final destination. We took a taxi back to nearly where we started and sure enough there it was… Closed, ha ha ha. Needless to say we were buggerd by now and so we went and had an ice cream..
