Blarney Castle

Originally built-in 1446, this is the third castle to stand on these grounds. Back in the tenth century, the very first wooden castle was here. Today this castle is visited by thousands each year. This was our turn to kiss the Blarney Stone.

The grounds of the castle are very pleasant and you could spend many hours here. The queues to get up to the stone are crazy, and this was not peak season yet.

It took us nearly an hour to get to kiss the Blarney Stone. The views at the top are nice and the actual kissing of the stone wall is over in seconds… I guess it’s a thing done and we can say yes we’ve kissed the Blarney Stone.

However, if you’re not good with tight spaces and maybe a little claustrophobic then think twice about doing it.

From here we jumped back in the car and drove to Killarney.
